Description: Director, Continuing Education
Monitors and analyzes health care trends significant to continuing nursing education and profile development. Identifies implications and directs implementation of plans to respond to these implications. Develops, implements, and evaluates the Center’s Master Plan for continuing nursing education in relation to ANA goals and strategic imperative for professional practice and excellence. Collaborates with ANA enterprise staff members in the production of promotional materials relevant to marketing the professional development needs of ANA audiences, including members, nonmembers, and nursing students. Provides advisory, administrative, and operational oversight to ANA organizational structures to ensure inclusion of accreditation criteria, educationally sound practices, and adult-learning principles that guarantee quality in all continuing nursing education activities provided by the ANA Enterprise. Provides oversight and participates on continuing education planning committees with ANA structural units including ANCC, the Institute, etc. Analyzes, designs, implements, and evaluates systems, guidelines, and standardized forms for coordination and quality assurance of continuing nursing education activities.

Qualifications: Registered nurse with a master’s degree required (either a bachelor’s or a graduate degree must be in nursing). Doctoral degree or degree in adult and/or continuing education desired. Position requires 15 years of demonstrated, high level experience and competence in continuing nursing education or staff development in academic, business, association, and/or practice settings; previous experience with an ANCC accredited provider/approver is required. Experience with publication, teaching, public speaking is desired. Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills. Must be able to demonstrate and apply knowledge of adult learning theories. Must have demonstrated skills in maintaining political sensitivity while providing consultation to internal and external customers and stakeholders. At least five years management and leadership experience in overseeing employees, contractors, or volunteers, and experience managing multiple deadlines is required.
