Emergency and Trauma ServicesEmergency/Trauma services (ED/TS) at John Peter Smith Hospital Fort Worth, Texas provides episodic care for those who are injured or have suffered a sudden illness. JPS was the first designated Level I Trauma Center in Tarrant County, Texas. JPS ED/TS cares for more than 60,000 patients annually, seeing 81,345 patients last year. The ED/TS consists of 56 main treatment beds and a Fast Track area with the ability to expand as necessary to meet volume needs.
The ED/TS team at JPS consists of Board Certified Emergency Physicians, Registered Nurses, Licensed Vocational Nurses, ED Technicians, Unit Secretaries, Patient Advocates, Radiology Technicians, Respiratory Care Practitioners and students. These individuals receive specialized training to work in the various areas of the ED/TS, such as ambulatory triage, ambulance triage, fast track, trauma, pediatrics, medicine and the surgical area.
In addition, JPS provides SANE (Sexual Assault Nurse Examination) by registered nurses who receive additional skills and training in forensics. JPS has a state-of-the-art exam room dedicated to SANE exams and more than 50 law enforcement agencies in the DFW area utilize

Description: Plans, directs and provides nursing care; provides professional clinical guidelines to Registered Nurses, Licensed Vocational Nurse, Student Nurses, Pool Nurses, Unit Clerk, Technicians and non-licensed support personnel. Acts as a preceptor and Charge Nurse.
Provides nursing care, utilizing the nursing process, which is appropriate for age and developmental stage (i.e adult, geriatric and pediatric) cultural, psychosocial, religious and disease specifics.
Typical Duties:
Directs and plans patient care using the nursing process.
Delivers nursing care in a manner that minimizes the risk of infection and/or contamination.
Delivers nursing care which includes patient/family education directed towards identified knowledge deficits, including planning for the patient’s discharge.
Functions as Charge Nurse and preceptor following six (6) months of employment.
Participates in the monitoring and evaluation of patient care using the QA/QI process.
Maintains clinical competence and exhibits professional growth and development.
Complies with ancillary services to promote efficient delivery of patient services.
Collaborates with ancillary services to promote efficient delivery of patient services.
Guides, educates and provides leadership as preceptor to orientee in the assigned area.
Exhibits a professional attitude, cooperation, reliability, responsibility and a high level of productivity in the execution of nursing functions and duties.
Demonstrates customer service behavior in day to day activities.
Adheres to the Network Compliance Program.

Qualifications: Qualifications: Graduation from an Accredited school of professional nursing is required. Current RN, licensure by the Board of Nurse Examiners for the State of Texas or proof of reciprocity of licensure between the State of Texas and another state. Two (2) Years previous experience in a clinical setting is preferred Six (6) months required. CPR & ACLS Certification is required through the American Heart Association. TNCC certification is required (May be acquired subsequent to hire).
